What You Need to Know

We are seeking a professional, innovative and enthusiastic Executive Director for our North Texas Region. Reporting to the Regional Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director is the face of the Red Cross in their chapter territory and in markets without volunteer leaders. This position is responsible for key areas within the defined territory: blood sponsor relationship management, fundraising, and management of the local Board of Directors and United Way relationships, as applicable. The Executive Director recruits and manages a team of volunteer Community Volunteer Leaders (CVLs).

Responsibilities

  • Dynamic Leadership of the North Texas Region: Serve as the Chapter's leader and vital link between the American Red Cross and the communities served; expand impact and ensure the Red Cross is woven into the fabric of the communities.
  • Building Transformative Relationships: Cultivate meaningful relationships with community leaders, businesses, philanthropists, and elected officials to drive chapter and regional goals.
  • Championing an Influential Board of Directors: Develop and lead a diverse, influential Board of Directors to galvanize resources and support the Red Cross.
  • Inspiring Strategic and Influential Leadership: Lead a high-performing team of volunteers and employees to exceed fundraising, blood collection, and mission delivery goals.
  • Creating a Culture of Inclusion and Belonging: Foster collaboration, inclusion and belonging among employees and volunteers.
  • Visionary Chapter Planning: Lead the chapter's annual planning process to identify areas for greatest community impact.
  • Key Regional Leadership Role: Collaborate with the Regional CEO on shaping the direction and success of the Red Cross in the North Texas Region; contribute as a regional leadership team member (no direct reports).

This position involves external-facing community relations work. A successful candidate should be able to influence community and government stakeholders using persuasive techniques and work toward monthly, quarterly and annual goals.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

Education: Four-year college degree (BS/BA) in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance or non-profit administration or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred in related fields.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years related experience with demonstrated judgment, strong communications and influencing skills, public speaking and writing, fundraising capability, and ability to build and sustain relationships.

Management Experience: Not applicable (position does not have direct reports).

Skills & Abilities: Flexibility and change management; proficient in MS Office; knowledge of employment laws at federal, state and local levels.

Travel: Travel within the communities served and region.

In-Office Work: North Texas Region.

Notes: Combination of education and experience may satisfy requirements if total years meet the minimum; management experience cannot be substituted.
