Job Details

Under general supervision, performs landscaping and grounds maintenance work of routine difficulty. Typical Duties/ Job Duties Operates hand and riding mowers to cut grass on University properties. Trims edges around walks, flower beds, walls, trees, and shrubs using clippers, weed cutters, and edging tools. Prunes and trims hedges and trees to shape, improve growth, or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs, using shears pruners, or chain saw. Removes weeds from around shrubs, trees, and bedding plants. Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs using gardening tools. Waters lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers using hoses or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler systems. Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides using hand or automatic sprayer. Cleans grounds and removes litter, leaves, and other debris; removes trash from drainage ditches and culverts, using shovel and rake. Operates backhoe, front end loader, and forklift as needed.
