Job Description: Roger Williams University Information Technology is hiring for an Audio Visual Technologies Specialist Come join a collaborative team, working on a beautiful campus on Narragansett Bay. This position is perfect for a candidate with a basic background in technology support and great customer service experience. We offer the support and time to grow and advance your career The Audio Visual Technologies Specialist offers equipment and technical assistance for university classes and events, such as board meetings and presentations. Collaborating with their peers in the IT Support Services team, they provide initial technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students through various channels. Additionally, they conduct training sessions for the RWU community on classroom technology, while also managing and resolving issues with classroom technology systems and equipment. Reporting to the IT Support Operations Manager, the Audio Visual Technologies Specialist provides campus-wide technological support including maintenance checks, event support, immediate incident response, and conducting or coordinating equipment installation and repairs. The Audio Visual Technologies Specialist assists in support of specialized learning and event spaces that require a high degree of troubleshooting skills. The Audio Visual Technologies Specialist supports and actively works to advance the current remote support and monitoring capabilities associated with classrooms and other technology-enhanced spaces, specifically in regards to networked AV over IP technologies, continuous review and updating of physical infrastructure, as well as cloud-based technologies utilized for the support of teaching, learning, and events. Essential Functions/Characteristics Play a key role in the daily operation of audio-video equipment, which includes, but is not limited to, performing routine maintenance (hardware and software), and training faculty, students, and technical support staff on proper operation and care of related hardware, software, and cloud-based applications and services. Maintain an accurate inventory of technical equipment and create documentation on integrations. Develop relationships and work with other University service providers, external vendors, and event planners to ensure the success of special events and classes. Perform Level I support as needed in person and on phone by creating appropriate tickets to the IT portal and identifying potential resolutions. Assist in Level II and III support for the University community in response to assigned classroom technology tickets. Perform audio, video, and various other technical support for University sponsored events. Participate in the development of the Department's learning space integration plans as outlined by departmental leadership. Work with the IT Support Operations Manager to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success. Collaborate with all members of Information Technology department on issues, solutions, and methods of improving service and technology. Supervise and train student employees to help support the technical services of the University. Additional Functions Remain updated on, and participate in, training and development opportunities that focus on emerging trends in technology, especially in relation to the classroom environment, networking, and cloud-based functions. Requirements: Bachelor's degree (In computer science, video or audio production, or a related field preferred). Experience in classroom and/or event technology support, utilizing a variety of audiovisual technologies, including hardware, software, and cloud-based applications and services. Relevant technical skills required, including troubleshooting and problem solving. Ability to analyze, comprehend, interpret, and resolve AV, IP Networking, and IT technical problems. Attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a complex, changing environment. Customer service experience. Effective verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills and the ability to translate technical information into user-friendly format. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, while focusing on service.
