"TEXAS LEADERSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLSJob Title: Cafeteria Monitor/CashierDepartment: Food ServiceReports To: Operations Manager, Cedar HillFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDate Prepared: 12/14/2023GENERAL PURPOSE:The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in maintaining a food service program at the school level by performing line monitoring and support cashiering functions in an efficient and effective manner to meet the nutritional needs and program standards of students and staff in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Reports to work on time and on days as designated by the school nutrition coordinatorMonitors behavior of students during meal periods; supports a positive and welcoming atmosphere for scholarsSpeaks to student scholars in a respectful manner and uses appropriate verbal corrective measures when necessaryEnsures food service equipment and machines are online and in place ready for meal service on campusEnsures students understand the USDA components for a reimbursable meal when going through the line, encourage the #CHOOSE3 marketing programWhen campus personnel are unavailable, performs cashier duties by collecting monies for school meals and accurately charging student accounts through the POS systemAssists in clean up duties when neededReports problems to school nutrition manager or principalMaintains high standards of sanitation and safetyMaintains good personal hygieneDresses in school appropriate clothingSupports overall mission of the child nutrition programMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum one year of cashiering experience, preferredMust be able to pass a background checkMust be able to read, write, and communicate proficientlyMust be able to stand for long periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
