SALARY: $19.90 - 29.86 Hourly USD
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, will inspect major thoroughfares, and other roadways with the goal of addressing issues related to overall aesthetics, litter, blight, deteriorated or damaged public infrastructure such as sidewalks, curbs and streetlights, and violations of City Ordinances. Position will perform related duties for tracking and providing data for reporting and mapping locations of areas worked and work with multiple City departments and external entities to address concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Patrol and respond to complaints/reports assigned district daily and address issues related to blight, litter, illegal dumping, and ordinance violations in collaboration with other City departments, other governmental entities, and/or community groups.
* Submit work orders to the appropriate departments and following up on the work orders in a timely manner to ensure work has been completed.
* Conduct hot spot abatements of debris, litter, junk, weeds, bandit signs, etc. in public right of ways, medians, and City Streets.
* Prepare reports of locations, status, disposition, and productivity.
* Track and report on established performance measures related to inspection activity and outcomes achieved.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Communicate with other City departments, governmental entities, citizens, and outside organizations to answer questions, solve problems, and provide any necessary information.
* Offer recommendations for additional development of policies and procedures on a continual basis regarding the clean initiative, based on experience and lessons learned on previous encounters.
* Follows up with and monitors all previously cleaned locations to ensure compliance going forward.
* Abates weeds in public right of ways, medians, and streets with a battery-operated weed/line trimmer.
* Issue educational information and conduct public education events.
* Prioritizes daily activities to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
* Conduct independent problem solving and resolution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern office methods and procedures.
* Skill in using PC Software including current Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
* Ability to learn and utilize specialized software such as Amanda, Cartegraph, GIS mapping, etc.
* Skill in composing, editing, formatting, and transcription of correspondence, minutes, and reports.
* Skill in proofreading materials to ensure accuracy.
* Skill with organization and attention to detail.
* Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
* Ability to develop an alternative solution to problems, evaluate a course of action, and reach appropriate recommendations for decision making.
* Ability to review written material for accuracy.
* Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks.
* Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
* Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish department objectives.
* Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals.
* Ability to work within a set schedule that may include after hours and weekends.
* Ability to research and analyze information to identify trends and patterns.
* Ability to de-escalate potentially adversarial situations.
* Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to: Laptop, Computer, Smartphone, Copier
* Ability to operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment including but not limited to riding lawn mower, skid steer, weed trimmer, chainsaw, stick edger, backpack blower, power washer and trailer.
* Ability to work independently under general instructions and make decisions independently.
* Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting 75 pounds.
* Ability to push/pull 50 pounds for 100 feet.
* Ability to perform a wide variety of physical skills including but not limited to, hearing, speaking, climbing, driving, lifting, seeing, squatting, reaching, and walking.
* Ability to learn and interpret City Ordinances.
* Employee may be subject to chemicals, dust, poisonous plants, insects, animals, odors, and mold.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma/GED
* Up to two (2) years of Customer Service experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
* Possession of a Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
